Bengaluru: An eight-minute blitz late in the first half saw Ozone FC Bengaluru cruise to a comfortable 3-0 win over Pride Sports in the I-League division two preliminary stage Group C tie at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Friday.
Anto Xavier scored two goals in the space of two minutes while Vignesh Gunashekar added the third for the home side who got their first win of the tournament.
The Bert Zuurman-coached side dominated proceedings throughout the match but was often wasteful of chances with Sabeeth Sathyan being the chief culprit.
Ozone went ahead in the 30th minute when Xavier converted Gunashekar’s cross before adding the second a minute later as the same duo combined to punish the Madhya Pradesh side’s static defence.
Gunashekar added the third in the 38th minute when Pradeep Mahonraj found Sathyan behind the defence with a scooped ball. The striker fired his shot straight at the goalkeeper allowing his team-mate to stroke in the rebound.
