They say life imitates art. Little wonder then that this picture caught David Beckham’s eye when he spotted it last week.
It bears a striking resemblance to the scene that unfolded when Becks smashed the ball over the bar during England’s penalty shootout defeat to Portugal during Euro 2004 .
That’s why we’d have expected old Goldenballs to have walked quickly past when he saw the Japanese artwork hanging in a posh London gallery last week. Instead, he was rather taken with it. Our spies spotted Posh and Becks at an exhibition called the “Horizon That Appears Out Of The Sleepy Woods.” They were wowed by the work by the Tokyo artists.
A source said: “David and Victoria had a lovely afternoon shopping together — and had obviously been invited to check out the new exhibition before it opens.” It’s not uncommon for wealthy buyers to get a sneak preview of new collections available for purchase — and of course they’re finishing work on their amazing new London home, so it’s likely they’re looking to kit that out.
