Footballer sent off for farting during match
Mumbai: Adam Lindin Ljungkvist, a Swedish footballer, was sent off during a match for a bizarre reason recently. He was shown a second yellow card in the middle for farting.
According to reports, the referee accused him of deliberate provocation and unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Adam was playing left-back in the match between Järna SK’s reserve team and Pershagen SK.
The 25-year-old said that he had a bad stomach, so he let it go but the booking shocked him. He added that it was the strangest thing he ever experienced on the football field.
He believes the referee thought that the fart was directed to him.
Kristoffer Linde, one of his opponents, could hear the fart loud and clear from a distance.
However, referee Dany Kako thought it was done purposely to provoke. Kako added that once he had shown a yellow card to a player for peeing next to the pitch.
