New Delhi: Hosts Jamshedpur FC overturned a two-goal deficit to beat bottom-placed side Delhi Dynamos 3-2 at home in a thrilling Indian Super League match on Sunday.
Delhi went ahead thanks to a brace from Kalu Uche (20th and 22nd minutes) but JFC never gave up. Tiri (29th) pulled a goal back before half time and Yumnam Raju made it 2-2 in the 54th.
Substitute Trinandade Goncalves scored the match winner in the 86th.
With the win, Jamshedpur rose to fifth in the standings with 16 points from 11 matches.
Delhi are at the bottom with seven points after 11 matches, losing eight of them.
Kalu gave the visitors the lead with a header. Nandhakumar Sekar received the ball on the left wing and picked up the striker with an accurate cross in the box.
Jamshedpur goalkeeper Subrata Paul’s desperate dive couldn’t deny Kalu.
Two minutes later, Delhi were two up in a similar move. Sekar again turned provider and Kalu was yet again on hand to head the ball in.
Lillianzula Chhangte’s ball put Sekar free on the left flank and the midfielder put the ball in for Kalu, who was left unmarked inside the box to score his second on the night.
Jamshedpur didn’t cow down. Steve Coppell’s men reacted well and at the half an hour mark, pulled one back.
JFC captain Tiri headed in a corner from Jerry Mawihmingthanga. In the second half, Yumnam Raju’s smashing side-footed shot levelled the scores for the home side. Jerry’s cross from the left was only partially cleared away by the Delhi defence, allowing Raju to pounce.
Both teams pressed for the winner but Jamshedpur had the last laugh. Wellington Priori found Trindade inside the box and Goncalves promptly turned and scored.
