Watch: Ghanian footballer thanks his wife and girlfriend' in post-match interview
Cape Town: Athletes often thank those close to them, after winning prestigious awards. Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Anas took it to the next level, on Friday, when he thanked both his wife and his girlfriend after receiving the man of the match award.
Anas had scored a brace for the Free State Stars, in their 2-2 draw with Ajax Cape Town, in a Premier Soccer League match.
The ludicrous incident happened during the post match ceremony, when the Free State Stars striker seemingly thanked both his wife and his girlfriend.
“I appreciate my fans, also my wife and my girlfriend, I mean my wife,” Anas said, in a post-match interview with South African TV channel SuperSport. “Sorry to say, I’m so sorry, my wife…I love you so much!”

However, the Ghanaian striker later clarified his stance, saying that he does not have a mistress. Anas clarified that he was referring to his two daughters, whom he fondly calls his ‘girlfriends’.
"My family knows that I call my daughter my girlfriend. That's what I was talking about. I don't have a girlfriend," he was quoted as saying by the BBC. "I love her so much. She's given me two beautiful children. She is fine. She knows what kind of man I am so I am not worried.”
