Shaqueel van Persie will have Europe’s top scouts sniffing around if his backyard skills are anything to go by. His famous father Robin has clearly influenced his son's development as the Instagram video can attest. Shaqueel Van Persie starts off by performing a number of keepie-uppies, chucking in a “round the world” for good measure. The youngster then catches the ball on his neck before continuing seamlessly with more flicks and tricks. His video concludes in style as he kicks the ball in the air with his back to goal before scoring with an overhead kick his old man would be proud of.
If those skills weren’t impressive enough, conditions were far from ideal for Shaqueel. He had to contend with a garden blanketed in snow and a small dog buzzing around his feet. The nine-year-old seems to have aspirations to follow in his father Van Persie’s footsteps as the former Arsenal striker now plies his trade in Turkey with Fenerbahce. Shaqueel is on the books of the academy side and his name will certainly alert opposition to his talent.
