Nolito returns to Spain after frustrating Manchester City spell

Sevilla signed Spanish international winger Nolito from Manchester City, the La Liga club announced on Sunday. The 30-year-old, who only joined City from Celta Vigo a year ago, moved for a reported fee of nine million euros ($10.3m) and has signed a three-year contract.

"Nolito is with Sevilla for the next three seasons, until June 2020," the club said in a statement on their website.

Nolito has scored six international goals in 16 appearances, but struggled to nail down a regular first-team place under City coach Pep Guardiola last term.He will take the place of Vitolo at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, after his Spain team-mate left for Atletico Madrid earlier this week, and be reunited with Sevilla head coach Eduardo Berizzo, who he played under for two years at Celta.

Berizzo will hope Nolito can refind the form that saw him score 39 La Liga goals in 100 appearances from 2013-2016 while he was with Celta. The deal caps a good week for Sevilla, after also capturing Colombian forward Luis Muriel from Sampdoria on Tuesday.

The club have now made four close-season signings in total since Berizzo joined as head coach in May, after Jorge Sampaoli left for the Argentina national side. Berizzo is looking to build on an excellent season last term, in which Sampaoli led Sevilla to a fourth-placed finish and a place in the Champions League.

Italy's Maccarone joins Brisbane Roar

Former Italian international striker Massimo Maccarone has signed as Brisbane Roar's marquee player for the next Australian A-League season, the club said on Monday.

The former Middlesbrough Premier League forward, 37, joins the Roar from Serie A side Empoli. He scored 24 goals in 80 matches for Boro. Maccarone becomes just the second player to come to Australia's A-League directly from the Serie A after Italy and Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero.

"His playing career is impressive and we are confident that Massimo's experience at the highest level will strengthen our already talented squad," head coach John Aloisi said.

Boro break the bank for Assombalonga

Middlesbrough have broken their transfer record to sign striker Britt Assombalonga from second-tier Championship rivals Nottingham Forest for a fee in the region of £14 million (15.8 million euros, $18.2 million). Boro, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, are believed to have met a buyout clause in the 24-year-old's contract.

Assombalonga scored 14 goals in 33 games for a struggling Forest side last term and had also attracted the interest of Burnley, but Boro have got their man after outbidding the Premier League club.

The fee surpasses the £12.7 million paid by the north-east club to Dutch side Heerenveen for Brazilian striker Afonso Alves in January 2008.

"I can't wait to get started and train with the boys," Assombalonga told Middlesbrough's club website.

"There's a good feeling around the place. From the minute I walked in it felt right." The former Peterborough striker becomes Garry Monk's fifth close-season signing since he took charge at the Riverside Stadium, following the arrivals of Martin Braithwaite, Jonny Howson, Cyrus Christie and Connor Roberts.

Juventus sign former Arsenal keeper

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has completed a move to Juventus after the Italian champions revealed the Poland international had arrived in Turin on Tuesday for a medical. Juve confirmed on the club's Twitter account that Szczesny, who will likely serve as back-up to Gianluigi Buffon, was in Italy ahead of a move worth up to 15 million euros ($17.4 million).

The 27-year-old has spent the past two seasons on loan at fellow Italian side Roma, and last played for the Gunners in their 4-0 FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa in May 2015. Szczesny was a regular for Roma during his loan spell and played 38 Serie A games last season as the capital club finished second behind Juventus.

He made his Arsenal debut in a League Cup clash in September 2009 -- the first of his 132 appearances for the Gunners.

Joe Hart is a Hammer

England goalkeeper Joe Hart has joined West Ham on season-long loan after finding no way back into the Manchester City team under Pep Guardiola.

Hart was the first-choice goalkeeper as City won the Premier League in 2012 and 2014. But one of the first decisions by Guardiola after taking charge a year ago was to send Hart on loan to Torino in Italy for the season because he believed the goalkeeper wasn't strong enough with his feet on the ball.

Hart returned from his loan spell with no prospect of breaking back into the City side where Claudio Bravo is now first-choice goalkeeper. The 30-year-old Hart will now be back in the Premier League with West Ham in the buildup to the World Cup in Russia.

Free agent Campbell moves to Hull

Fraizer Campbell has rejoined Championship side Hull City, nine years after he last played for the Yorkshire side, following his release by Crystal Palace, the club has confirmed.

Campbell, who played for the Tigers on loan in their 2007/08 promotion-winning season, has signed a two-year deal with the option of a further year.

"I'm delighted to be a Tiger again and hopefully it can go the same way as it did last time with us winning promotion to the Premier League," said Campbell.

In his first spell Campbell netted 15 goals in a prolific partnership with Tigers legend Dean Windass as Hull secured their place in the top flight for the first time. The 29-year-old, who began his career at Manchester United, had spells with Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Cardiff City before moving to Crystal Palace.
