Kochi: The government has given administrative sanction for road development and beautification works worth Rs 17.77 crore in the city as part of the FIFA Under 17 World Cup. Of this, Rs 2.5 crore needed for the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium road tarring will be spent from the Greater Cochin Development Authority’s funds.
The government intends to complete the works by September 15, said district collector Muhammad Y. Safirulla. Development works will be carried out near the training grounds like Maharaja’s College ground, Government High School ground Panampilly Nagar, Fort Kochi Parade Ground and Veli Ground.
