Phase II of the ticket sales kicked-off after the main draw for the tournament had taken place in Mumbai on July 7.

New Delhi: The ticket sales for the upcoming edition of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup has seen a huge response, after a total of 1, 00,000 tickets were sold out.

Phase II of the ticket sales kicked-off after the main draw for the tournament had taken place in Mumbai on July 7.

Ticket sales in Kochi, Kolkata and Guwahati have seen a huge improvement as those venues saw a positive response.

Javier Ceppi, the Tournament Director of the Local Organising Committee, expressed happiness on this.

“The fact that we have already sold 100,000 tickets for the World Cup when we are still 84 days from it, speaks volumes of the interest from fans into coming and watch the Tournament.

Ever since we opened the sales, it has defied the usual pattern for events here, where people wake up at the last minute and get the tickets then. We already have 100,000 fans that want to come to the stadiums, and it is very exciting. We are on the right track to show the whole world, full stadiums for the World Cup,” he said.

India are set to host its first FIFA tournament, when the FIFA U-17 World Cup gets underway on October 6. The 24-team tournament will run on till October 28, with the final set to be played at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata. India, who are grouped with USA, Ghana and Colombia will play their group matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
