Premier League: Sergio Aguero nightmare for Liverpool ahead of Manchester City clash
Manchester: Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, as the Premier League returns following the dreary international break.
Both sides have had a successful summer transfer window and with key additions in both the teams, both sides will aim to stay in the hunt for the Premier League title as early as possible.
Man City registered a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in their last game, while Liverpool battered Arsenal with ease at Anfield, with a scoreline of 4-0.
Team News
Liverpool:
After securing a move from Arsenal, midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could make his Liverpool debut, but off the bench. Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana are both injured and will not play any role.
Philippe Coutinho is back in training and scored a wonderful goal for Brazil during the international break. However, we will have to wait and see how Jurgen Klopp adapts him to the side.
Manchester City:
Kyle Walker returns to action, having served his one-match ban for a red card in the game against Everton. However, Raheem Sterling will continue to sit out due to suspension while Illkay Gundogan has made a positive return to full fitness.
Probable XI:
Liverpool (4-3-3): Karius; Robertson, Matip, Lovren, Moreno; Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
Manchester City (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Mendy; D. Silva, Fernandinho, De Bruyne; B. Silva, Aguero, Jesus.
Players to watch out for:
Liverpool – Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah has already proved why the Reds deserved to pay that hefty price tag for him, with 2 goals and an assist already in 2 games. In the absence of Kompany, expect the Egyptian winger to be a menace for the oppostion.
Manchester City – Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero loves a goal against Liverpool, doesn’t he? The Manchester City striker has scored in all his five outings against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium and will be tipped again to do so.
Also, after Alexis Sanchez’s transfer move to Manchester City failed to materialise, the Argentine will be Pep Guardiola’s go-to man.
DC Predicts
Goals, goals and goals. That’s what will be expected from both the teams given their attacking firepower. But given Liverpool’s excellent record against the top 6 Premier League sides, we expect them to outplay the hosts with a 2-1 win.
