AFC Cup final 2016: Bengaluru FC winners even in defeat
Mumbai: Bengaluru FC may have lost the AFC Cup final against Iraqi Air Force FC on Saturday, but the reigning I-League champions certainly won a lot of hearts.
Despite the loss, Bengaluru have still managed to etch their names in the history of Indian football, as they are only club from the country to have made it to the finals of a continental tournament.
Bengaluru FC had put up a good fight, keeping things at stalemate till half time. However, Hammadi Ahmad popped up with a goal in the 71st minute, to break Bengaluru hearts at a time when the match seemed to be heading towards extra time.
The Indian fans though remained upbeat about the match despite the loss. Many went on to congratulate the Blues for putting India back on the Asian football map.
