ISL 2016: Mumbai City FC vs North East United FC - Preview

Both teams will be looking to maintain their hundred percent record in this year's ISL.

Mumbai: The 2016 Indian Super League table topper NorthEast United FC will travel to Mumbai on Friday to face the third placed Mumbai City FC.

Both teams will be looking to maintain their 100 percent start to the ISL season.

The visitors have made their strongest start in the ISL history with two wins out of the first two games. The North-East club defeated FC Goa 2-0 in their last game, having beaten Kerala Blasters in their first game.

Mumbai began their ISL journey with 1-0 victory against FC Pune City. This was the first time that Mumbai got their campaign off to a winning start.

Mumbai's coach Alexander Borges is happy that the team has opened their campaign on a positive note.

“We won a game against a very good team and it’s always very good for the team,” said Borges.

Borges is wary of the challenge and praised NorthEast for their start. However, he is optimistic about his team’s chances.

“They are also doing very well. They deserved to win first two games. They will makes us to play even better and harder,” added Borges.

Borges also informed that winger Jackichand Singh, who did not start the game against Pune due to leg injury is fully fit. He could be drafted straight into the team.

NorthEast coach Nelo Vingada praised Mumbai for their performance and feels they are a far better team than last season.

“It will not be easy for us but we will try to do our best,” said Nelo.

NorthEast striker Emiliano Alfaro scored two goals against Goa and would be hoping to continue his good run.

Both coaches said it is very difficult to play two or three games in a week. They rued the tight schedule of ISL and hoped to avoid any injuries in the upcoming game.
