ISL 2017: No home comfort for Delhi Dynamos
New Delhi: Delhi Dynamos’ defensive woes continued to plague them, the hosts going down 0-2 to NorthEast United FC in their first home game of the Indian Super League 4 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.
NorthEast scored both goals in the space of five minutes in the first half to notch up their first win of the season after draw and a loss in their first two games.
Brazilians Marcio Junior and Danilo Lopes Cezario scored in the 17th and 22nd minutes to propel NorthEast to four points from three matches.
Dynamos now have conceded eight goals in the first three matches. They began with a 3-2 win at Pune but were hammered 1-4 by Bengaluru FC.
Delhi had several chances to score but squandered them all while NorthEast capitalised on a goalkeeping howler by Albino Gomes to score their second goal.
They began swiftly and Marcio Junior scored their first goal of the tournament, connecting Holicharan Narzary’s inviting cross with a fine volley.
NorthEast doubled the lead with Cezario taking advantage of a sloppy work from Gomes, who made hash of a routine back pass clearance.
Jolted by the two quick goals, Dynamos moved forward in search of goals but profligacy and a lack of ideas upfront nullified all their ambitions.
