Mumbai: Paris Saint Germain star Neymar, who was training with the Brazilian national team for the upcoming Copa America, was hit with a sudden wave of criticism when a woman accused the Brazilian national of getting drunk and raping her in a Paris hotel.
Soon after denying the charges, Neymar has now taken to Instagram and shared a video showcasing a WhatsApp chat with the accuser. The chats include intimate pictures shared by the woman herself, perhaps changing the perspective of the case.
Neymar has claimed that the whole accusation is just a case of extortion by a lawyer who is representing the accuser.
According to reports from Xinhua news agency, Neymar Sr, the player's father, also agreed on the matter being a case of extortion.
"This is a tough moment. If we can't show the truth quickly it will be a snowball. If we have to show Neymar's WhatsApp messages and the conversations with this lady, we will," Neymar Santos Sr told TV Band.
