Cricketers, Fans Mourn Terror Attack at IPL Game
Cricketers, fans bat for terror victims

Hyderabad: Hyderabad cricket fans joined the rest of India in condemning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam by observing a one-minute silence to mourn the victims before the start of the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians here on Wednesday.
The scene at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium was sombre as the supporters stood in rapt attention while players of both teams lined up on the boundary line close to the South Pavilion, heads bowed and sporting black armbands to pay respects to those affected by the incident in Jammu & Kashmir.
The 120-second silence was broken by full-throated chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” with some screaming “Jai Shri Ram” as well, followed by a smattering of applause.
The match also did not feature cheerleaders and fireworks.
The BCCI also issued a statement to condemn the “ghastly and cowardly” attack. “The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said.
