Vaibhav Suryavanshi Honoured with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar

The national award, presented annually, celebrates exceptional talent and excellence among children

Teenage cricket phenomenon Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been honored with the prestigious Prime Minister’s Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for 2025. President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to him at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday, recognising his remarkable accomplishments in sports despite his young age.

Vaibhav's rise to fame began with the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025, where, at just 14 years and 23 days old, he became the youngest-ever player to debut in the Indian Premier League. He instantly made headlines in only his third IPL match by smashing a century off just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans.

Since then, the young prodigy has consistently amassed high scores in age-group and domestic competitions. He has recorded centuries in the Asia Cup Rising Stars, the Under-19 Asia Cup, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he also set a record as the youngest century-maker at 14 years and 250 days.

Maintaining his exceptional form, Vaibhav recently dazzled in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Playing for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday, he blasted a century off only 36 balls. Opening the innings, he narrowly missed a double hundred, hammering 190 runs from just 84 balls, an innings featuring 16 fours and 15 sixes.
