Suvarna Is Chief Of Hyderabad Women's Cricket Selection Panel

“Anita Mishra, G. Sangeeta, M. Keertana and Ekta Saxena are the other members of the selection panel which has been approved by the Single Member Committee (Justice Naveen Rao),” HCA secretary M. Jeevan Reddy stated in a press release while expressing “confidence that the committee would carry out its responsibilities with the highest standards of fairness, transparency, integrity and professionalism, ensuring that deserving talent is identified and given the opportunity to represent Hyderabad in the Senior and Junior Women’s teams.”
“The Women’s Selection Committee will play a vital role in strengthening the women’s cricket structure in Hyderabad. I wish the Chairperson and all members success in their tenure and look forward to their valuable contribution towards the continued growth and development of women’s cricket in the state,” he added.
Under Suvarna’s leadership last season, the Hyderabad U-19 women’s team qualified for the knockouts in One-dayers while the U-15 girls qualified for the knockouts in the T20 tournament. Also, five girls from the U-19 team were selected for NCA camp and one girl selected for India the U-19 team.
From the U-15 team, one girl got selected for NCA camp. Four players from the senior women’s team found places in the South Zone side while four girls made it to the Women’s Premier League.

Hosts Secunderabad Sailing Club enjoyed a memorable outing at 6th YAI GMR Sports Youth Open Regatta which concluded at the Hussain Sagar Lake on Saturday.
Shringhari Roy was the standout performer, winning the Optimist Main girls’ title with a flawless record, while the Club also took gold in the 420 girls’ class through Ishi Gupta and Diya Ajay Patel. B. Ravi Kumar of the Telangana Sailing Association dominated the Optimist Main boys’ fleet.
The week also carried an international flavour, with Malaysia’s Khairul Ilzani Mohd Afendy taking silver in the Optimist Main boys’ class.
The regatta closed with the Optimist team racing, the most tactical format in the sport, where Trishna Sailing Club were crowned champions after a deciding final race against the Telangana Sailing Association.
The regatta, a National Ranking Event, brought together 115 sailors in 105 boats from clubs across India racing in the Optimist, ILCA, 420 and 29er classes.

Gymkhana and Hotfut Football Clubs registered victories in the Telangana Under-15 Youth League being organised by the Telangana Football Association at the Gymkhana Football Ground in Secunderabad. Gymkhana secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Hyderabad FA with Vivek scoring the all-important goal in the 19th minute. In another match, Hotfut defeated Prokick FC 1-0 — Swaragya Jain got the winning goal in the 58th minute.

Thanush and Aneeksha are champions

Thanush Shekar and Aneeksha Gavinolla won the boys and girls singles titles respectively at the Under-14 National Series tennis tournament held at Sania Mirza Tennis Academy on Saturday. Thanush defeated Shishanth Shivaraj 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 while Aneeksha got the better of Trisha Bhosale 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 in the title rounds.
