ICC Chairman Jay Shah has described the return of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup to Africa after 24 years as a "landmark moment for cricket" while expressing confidence that the 2027 edition will be an unforgettable event.
Speaking at the unveiling of the host cities and the official tournament brand for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, Shah said the announcement marked a major milestone in the build-up to one of cricket's biggest global events.
"This marks an exciting milestone on the road to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027. The unveiling of the host cities and the tournament brand signals the start of a journey that will unite fans around the world and build anticipation for one of our sport's biggest global events," he said.
Shah said the tournament's return to Africa would be significant for the sport, with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia set to co-host the event.
"The return of this prestigious tournament to Africa after 24 years is a landmark moment for cricket. We are confident that South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will deliver an unforgettable event, showcasing the warmth, passion and rich diversity that make this region truly unique," he added.
The 2027 World Cup will mark the first time the three African nations jointly host cricket's flagship 50-over tournament.
