Cameron Green Tops IPL 2026 Mini-Auction

Anil Kumble praised Delhi Capitals for acquiring David Miller for just ₹2 crore, calling it an “absolute steal.”

Cameron Green emerged as the most expensive overseas buy at the TATA IPL 2026 mini-auction so far, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) snapping him up for ₹25.2 crore, making him the third most expensive purchase in IPL history.

Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Match Centre Live Auction 2026’, JioStar expert Anil Kumble said Green should be used at the top of the order rather than as a finisher. He noted that KKR already have adequate finishing options in players like Rinku Singh, Rovman Powell and Ramandeep Singh. Kumble suggested Green open the batting or play at No. 3, allowing Sunil Narine to bat lower down the order or act as a floater.

Echoing similar views, JioStar expert Abhinav Mukund said KKR’s biggest weakness last season was a lack of power at the top of the order, especially while chasing big totals. He said Green fits well as a top-order batter and could open alongside Ajinkya Rahane, with young Angkrish Raghuvanshi at No. 3. Mukund added that the league has become increasingly powerplay-driven, reducing the need for a traditional lower-order power hitter.

Meanwhile, Anil Kumble praised Delhi Capitals for acquiring David Miller for just ₹2 crore, calling it an “absolute steal.” He said Miller’s experience addresses a key gap in Delhi’s squad and, alongside Tristan Stubbs, significantly strengthens their middle order. Kumble added that the move reflects smart planning by Delhi Capitals, who lacked experience last season.
