Performers aplenty in schools cricket

Snehal, Omjha, Advait, Partha, Shreyas, Avinash, Karthik do well with the ball; Jawad, Jayanth, Srikanth, Rohit come up with good knocks.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Under 14 inter-schools tournament threw up a clutch of performers. Jai Snehal, Omjha, Advait, Partha Sarathy, Shreyas Goud, Avinash and K. Karthik excelled with the ball while Jawad Ali Khan, Jayanth Reddy and K. Srikanth slammed centuries. Kush Rohit was unlucky to be stranded on an unbeaten 96.

Jai Snehal took 7 wickets while conceding just 6 runs to bowl Oakridge International School Bachupally to victory over Sri Sai Vidhyarathi High School.

The match between Johnson Grammar and Sherwood Public School had two performers from either side. Sherwood’s Omjha took 6 for 12 but Advait replied with 7 for 14 as Johnson won.

Partha Sarathy was another outstanding performer. He took 5 wickets while conceding just 1 run as Global Indian International School were bowled out for a mere 43. P. Obul Reddy School made heavy weather of the lowly target though, losing half their side before crossing over the line.

Shreyas Goud took 5 for 26 as St Mary’s High School (Vijaynagar) were out for 116. Oakridge International School Gachibowli replied with 118/5.

St Peter’s Bowenapally found two key players after making a modest 126 against Mount Litera Zee School. Karthik’s 5 for 8 and Avinash’s 5 for 22 bundled the opposition out for 45.

Jawad Ali Khan hit 130 to help Kakatiya Group of Schools to 237/3 in their 40 overs. Sri Chaitanya could only reply with 129 as Jawad was also among the wickets, taking 3 for 27.

Jayanth Reddy made 146 not out to guide St Paul’s High School to 278 for 5. St Francis of Assisi could not even match Jayanth’s score and were all out for 145.

Vigyan Vidyalaya’s Srikanth was the other centurion. He made an unbeaten 102 in his side’s nine-wicket victory over St Mark’s Boys Town.

Chirec’s Kush Rohit made 96 before his side ran out of overs. However, their 235 for 3 was too much for Silver Oaks, who were out for 140.
