Popular TV show contestant accuses Yuvraj Singh of taking drugs
Mumbai: In a stunning claim, Akansha Sharma, the sister-in-law of Yuvraj Singh, on Sunday, accused the Indian cricketer of taking drugs.
Sharma, who was evicted from popular TV show Big Boss 10, late on Sunday night, was married to Yuvraj’s brother Zorawar Singh. She later went on to accuse the lung cancer patient of smoking marijuana.
“As far as substance abuse goes, it was there in their family too. Whatever I did was with them. I smoked pot with my husband. Yuvraj also told me he smoked pot," she alleged in an interview with entertainment news portal Bollywoodlife.
Yuvraj, who is considered to be at the fag end of his cricketing career, has been in and out of the national team in the last few years. The popular cricketer had been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011, but he soon recovered from his ailment to make a comeback in the national team around a year later, playing a T20 against New Zealand.
The 34-year-old has been spending a lot of time in domestic cricket in the recent years, in an effort to catch the eye of the selectors for the national team. With India scheduled to play 10 more Test matches this season, there is a very good chance that a number of the fringe players may get a call-up.
Yuvraj, who plays for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy, would have been hoping that a century against Madhya Pradesh, and a double ton against Baroda would have boosted his chances of getting a call-up. However, the allegations about the southpaw using recreational drugs could severely dent his chances of making a comeback for Team India.
