Pakistan cricketer Hasan Ali set to marry Indian girl in Dubai
Gujranwala: Pakistan right-arm pacer Hasan Ali is set to tie the knot with Indian girl Shamia Arzoo on August 20.
Member of Pakistan's squad in the recent World Cup, Hasan's nikah ceremony will be held at a Dubai hotel and the rukhsati will take place in 2020, the News International reported.
As per reports, Shamia is a flight engineer with Emirates Airlines, while her family members are settled in New Delhi.
"Our families wanted to keep this a low key affair but since the matter has come out in the media I have decided to make an official announcement to ensure there are no speculations surrounding my marriage," Hasan told a news conference in his hometown, Gujranwala (Pakistan).
Hasan said he had met with Shamia one year ago in Dubai and their friendship had grown since that meeting.
Earlier on July 30, Hasan Ali in a tweet, had stated that the wedding is not confirmed yet and he will make a public announcement about it very soon.
Hasan, who has represented his nation in nine Tests and 53 ODIs, played an vital role in Pakistan's 2017 Champions Trophy triumph.
Hasan will become the fourth Pakistani cricketer to marry an Indian girl after former cricketers Shoaib Malik, Zaheer Abbas, and Mohsin Khan.
Shoaib married Indian tennis star Sania Mirza in 2010. The couple was blessed with a baby boy Izhaan Mirza Malik in October last year.
