Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed reveals what's needed to bag a hat-trick

Taskin Ahmed claimed his first hat-trick during the second Sri Lanka versus Bangladesh ODI in Dambulla.

Mumbai: Bangladeshi fast bowler Taskin Ahmed considers himself to be "lucky enough" this time to get his first hat-trick on Tuesday.

"Fortunate because before the recent (2nd) ODI against Sri Lanka at Dambulla, I came close to achieve this four times but was not lucky to get the third wicket but this time in my 25th ODI, luck favoured me," said the right-arm fast bowler.

"Every bowler has a dream to get the hat-trick and I am no exception. I feel great and at last my dream got fulfilled. Had we won the match instead of it being abandoned because of rain, it would have been a better feeling."

When asked whether is it easy to get hat-trick in a Test or an ODI, Taskin, who will turn 22 on Monday, said, "I have played 4 Tests and never came close to hat-trick but I can say any bowler would need luck to have a hat-trick. Be it a Test or an ODI. Without luck and other players' support including captain's faith no bowler can achieve this feat."

Taskin Ahmed's hat-trick included a middle order batsman Asela Gunaratne and two tail-enders (Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep).

"Two of my four victims were recognised batsmen and thus my performance can not be undermined," he added.

"I agree the tail-ender batsmen make more mistakes than the regular ones. But hat-trick is after all a hat-trick, i.e. three wickets in three consecutive balls. That's it. Hopefully, my victims will be the top order-batsmen in the next hat-trick,” he signed off.
