KL Rahul released from Karnataka squad for Virat Kohli's India vs New Zealand T20s

The star batsman was dropped from the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand.

Mumbai: Team India batsman and the star player of Karnataka KL Rahul has been released from Ranji squad due to his international commitments. Rahul who was dropped from the ODI series against New Zealand was included in the three match T20 side against the Kiwis which will commence from November 1 in Delhi.

Rahul made dismal start to his domestic season. The Karnataka star batsman who played against Hyderabad could only contribute 4 runs in first innings and 23 runs in second innings. Inspite of failing with bat Karnataka managed to win the game by 59 runs in which Karun Nair scored century.

Another player to be dropped from the side is left arm pacer Sreenath Aravind. Aravind had a disappointing start to his campaign as he managed to pick up just 1 wicket in the first two games of the season. Ronit More has been named as his replacement.

Karnataka have won both their opening matches and are currently on top of Group A with 13 points. Maharashtra, on the other hand, are fourth in the table with 7 points to their name.

Karnataka squad: Vinay Kumar (Captain), Ravikumar Samarth, Dega Nischal, Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal, Kaunain Abbas, Pavan Deshpande, CM Gautam (Wicketkeeper), Stuart Binny, Krishnappa Gowtham, Abhimanyu Mithun, Ronit More, Shreyas Gopal, Jagadeesha Suchith, Sharath Srinivas (Wicketkeeper).
