Is Mohammad Amir planning to play for England?

If Amir gets hold of the visa then he can stay in UK for nearly three years (30 months).

Mumbai: Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir, who recently retired from Test cricket, is reportedly planning to settle down in England. Recently, a report came out, and it stated that Amir is shifting to England to live with his wife Narjis Amir, who currently holds a UK passport.

If Amir gets his British citizenship then he can get to play for England. As per a report by the Telegraph, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) allows overseas-born players to represent England.

The report which came out in November 2018 also stated that an overseas-born player has to stay in England for three years or more, in order to be eligible for selection in the England team.

The Pakistani media have reported that Amir has applied for a spouse visa since he is married to British citizen Narjis Amir. If Amir gets hold of the visa then he can stay in UK for nearly three years (30 months). Amir can also work and avail all the advantage that the visa provides.

However, the 27-year-old would find it difficult to get hold of the visa as he was involved in a spot-fixing scandal in 2010, and following that incident he was put in jail. Meanwhile, another report by cricketpakistan.com.pk states that Amir is also planning to purchase a home in London.
