Trinidad's Iraq Thomas blows away Chris Gayle's fastest T20 ton

Thomas smashed the fastest hundred in T20 cricket coming in just 21 balls.

Mumbai: West Indies big-hitter Chris Gayle has been a massive plug-in for his side specially when he’s on a roll with the bat. Gayle, who smashed a record 30-ball century in the Indian Premier League (2013) for his side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against the now defunct Pune Warriors, no more holds the T20 feat.

Thanks to this 23-year-old Trinidadian Iraq Thomas. The junior cricketer, hailing from the land of Brian Lara, smashed the fastest hundred in T20 cricket coming in just 21 balls. Thomas was playing for Scarborough/Mason Hall United in a match organised by Tobago Cricket Association at Louis D’Or.

The young lad also made headlines since he scored a 31-ball 131 on Sunday. Chasing Speyside’s target of 152, Thomas clobbered 131 off 31 balls to finish off the contest in just eight overs. He hit 15 sixes and five fours during his rollicking innings.

I never thought I would get the runs as quickly as I did but after hitting a few, I realised that something special can happen out there and it came through,” Thomas told the local Trinidad media.

A 53-ball 97 was Thomas’ previous best knock.
