Topping ICC Test rankings more important than any award: Ravindra Jadeja's sister

Mumbai: Ravindra Jadeja topping the rankings for Test bowlers brought more happiness to his family than the Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards he won against Australia on Monday.

"The two awards – MoM and MoS he won are good but we are happier because he has topped the ICC Test rankings for the bowlers," Naina Jadeja, the left-arm spinner’s sister said.

"This is because MoM and MoS are restricted to one particular match or series but he will remain world No. 1 bowler till someone else topples him and we wish he remains on the top for a long time," the sister added.

Explaining Jadeja’s celebration style of twirling his bat like a sword, Naina said, "Waving the sword in the air is a Rajputana style. It is in our blood and culture. When we conquer something, we celebrate the victory in this fashion."

Naina also explained the reason behind Jadeja's family skipping the Dharamsala Test.

"My brother gets under pressure when we are at the ground and therefore we generally avoid going to the stadium when he is in the team."

Jadeja’s sister revealed that the cricketer and his wife Ribaba are expecting their first child in the month of May.

"My brother will now be focusing on IPL. He is playing for Gujarat Lions (under Suresh Raina). The CSK ban will be over this year and we wish Gujarat Lions wins the IPL final in its second and last year," she signed off.
