Mumbai: “I am here for press conference, not to discuss plans against Virat Kohli,” quipped Darren Sammy as he began the pre-match media interaction on the eve of the India-West Indies semifinal clash in ICC World Twenty20 here at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Kohli’s match-winning 82 not out against Australia in the virtual quarterfinal makes him India’s go-to man but Sammy played down the threat.

The Caribbean looked confident of the team which may become the first to win the World T20 title twice.
“Virat is a very good player. But we tend to focus on what we can do. When we have executed our plans, we have won the games, when we haven’t, we lost,” said Sammy.
It is a given that Wankhede will be jam-packed for the semifinal.

The all-rounder was candid when asked about West Indies’ prospect.
“It is going to be a hell of game. No Indians are going to support us. West Indies will think of it as 15 versus rest of the world. It is 80-20 and feels like a David versus Goliath, but don’t forget David won the fight.”
Despite being marred by administrative issues back home, West Indies are playing a fine brand of cricket. The U-19 team won the World Cup in Bangladesh in February and now the senior teams (men’s and women’s) are just a win away from making it to the World T20 final.
“2016 could be the year when West Indies take everything home. Both the men's and women's team have a chance of going all the way,” concluded Sammy, as West Indies gear up to dash India’s hopes to make it to the final.
