KPL: Belagavi Panthers record easy win, eye semis berth

With a 40-minute delay owing to rain and Panthers in a desperate situation to keep their last four hopes alive, asked Rockstars to pad up first.

Hubballi: Belagavi Panthers moved one step closer to a semifinal berth when they crushed Rockstars by nine wickets in a rain-truncated KPL-5 game at the KSCA Stadium at Rajnagar here on Wednesday.

With a 40-minute delay owing to rain and Panthers in a desperate situation to keep their last four hopes alive, asked Rockstars to pad up first. In a 18 overs-a-side, Rockstars huffed and puffed to post a modest 87. Vihaan Rajeev topped the scoring charts with while Satish Bharadwaj bagged three wickets.

S. Sachin, CK Akshay and Praveen Dubey shared two wickets each. In reply, Panthers sprinted to the target just 48 balls. Mayank Agarwal led the charge with an unbeaten 66 (31b, 7x6, 3x4) for the winners.

Brief scores: Rockstars: 87 for 9 in 18 overs (Vihaan Rajeev 24, Raju Gowda 19, Satish Bharadwaj 3/12, S Sachin 2/ 32, Praveen Dubey 2/16, CK Akshay 2/9) lost to Belagavi Panthers: 91 for 1 in 8 overs (Mayank Agarwal 66 n.o, Kunaian Abbas 19 n.o.) by 9 wickets.

Hubli Tigers: 169 all out in 19.5 overs (Mohammed Taha Kunal Kapoor 29, Vyshak Vijay 4/40, K. Gowtham 2/23, J. Suchith 2/20) lost to Mysuru Warriors: 172/2 in 19 overs (Arjun Hoysala 58, Akshay Kodoth 50) by 8 wickets.
