Mumbai: So what if IPL is over, there is no stopping Kolkata Knight Riders. The franchise – who now owns a stake in a CPL team (Trinbago Knight Riders) – unveiled their new kit in the presence of skipper Dwayne Bravo, coach Simon Helmot, mentor Jacques Kallis.
The team also launched their new television commercial which features Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, also the owner of the franchise.
Khan, in the commercial, talks about both his teams – KKR and TKR – and signs off saying: “Play, fight, win” – the motto of the team.
TKR flaunts names like Brendon McCullum, Hashim Amla, Umar Akmal and Darren Bravo.
“I really loved the colour and design of the kit. It’s like donning our national flag. I really hope that fans will support us just like last year and inspire us to retain the trophy,” said skipper Bravo.
Venky Mysore, the director, said: “We value the tradition of Trinidad and Tobago and we were very keen to maintain the colour that is the identity of the island. Making the kit in red and black is an effort by Knight Riders to announce to the Trinbagonians that this team is their own. We would also like to thank Trinidad and Tobago government for all the support that they have given us.”
TKR will start their campaign against St Lucia Zouks on June 29.
