Mohammad Azharuddin moves High Court against HCA's president

A single judge on March 15 stayed the order of the Ombudsman.

Hyderabad: Two appeals have been moved before the Hyderabad High Court challenging an order of a single judge in staying an order passed by the Ombudsman & Ethics Officer disqualifying G. Vivekanand and T. Seshnarayan from the posts of president and secretary respectively of Hyderabad Cricket Association.

While Mohammad Azharuddin — former captain of Indian cricket team — moved the appeal staying the disqualification of Vivek, C. Babu Rao — secretary of Sagar Cricket Club — did it against Sheshnarayan.

Earlier, Azahruddin had lodged a complaint before the Ombudsman seeking to disqualify Vivek on account of a commercial contract between M/s Visakha Industries, of which he is a Director, and HCA and also on account of his appointment as an Advisor to the Telangana government.

Babu Rao had earlier complained to the Ombudsman against Sheshnarayan saying as an accused in a criminal case, he was not eligible to hold the HCA post in view of the recommendations of Justice R.M. Lodha Committee.

A single judge on March 15 stayed the order of the Ombudsman. The appellants contended that the single judge has erred in granting interim stay.
