Tamil Nadu champions: Beat CFI in final to win the Under 19 Twenty20 tournament
The final of the Under 19 T-20 ended on a thrilling note in which the Tamil Nadu clinched a three-run victory over the CFI to emerge champions in the 5th Rajiv Gandhi All India Under-19 T-20 day & night Cricket Championship that was played at Hyderabad.
In the final, batting first, Tamil Nadu batsmen felt helpless against a fine bowling by Ajay Dev Goud and were restricted to a descent total of 129 for 8 in 20 overs. Ajay with his fine bowling spells claimed three wickets against his name while giving away 27 runs.
Meanwhile, Karthik, with 32, was the top scorer for Tamil Nadu while Sudhan and Dhilipan chipped in with 26 and 28 respectively.
In the latter half, CFI looked favourites to lift the trophy after making a positive start.
Junaid Ali, with his fine strokeplay lead his side’s chase from the front. Junaid scored a valuable 64, however none of the other batters could do much on the crease as Lokesh put brakes on CFI’s chase.
The Tamil Nadu bowler took four wickets at the cost of 24 runs to restrict CFI at 126 for 8 in 20 overs to guide his side to a thrilling 3-run victory and emerge winners.
