Mumbai: After a dream Italy wedding and two grand receptions in New Delhi and Mumbai, Virat Kohli, accompanied by wife and Bollywood actress-producer Anushka Sharma, and Indian cricket team members left for a gruelling South Africa tour from the Mumbai International Airport in the wee hours of Thursday.
While the focus will soon shift to on-field cricketing action for Kohli and co. as the first Test of the India versus South Africa kicks off in Newlands, Cape Town on January 5, 2018.
While Virat and Anushka’s wedding and receptions created a huge buzz, Kohli set the record straight when asked whether it was difficult to switch back to cricket after the recent big change in his life.
“(It is) Not difficult to switch on, at all. I was out for something more important that will remain very special for both of us. Switching on back to cricket is not difficult at all. It's in my blood, like it is for every other team member and the team management,” said Kohli.
“Getting back to the professional front is not difficult at all. It's not like I have not done anything for the past three weeks. I have been training and preparing to play for South Africa. Somewhere at the back of your mind you are always thinking that something important is coming up. You're mentally prepared,” added the Indian skipper before the pre-departure press conference ahead of the South Africa tour on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan was accompanied by his wife Aesha and son Zoravar as the team left to take on Faf du Plessis and co.
