Ranji Trophy: Akshath hammers century as Hyderabad post better show
Hyderabad: After a nightmarish first innings in which they were bowled out for 205, Hyderabad put up a better show in their second essay thanks to a composed century by P. Akshath Reddy on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Group ‘A’ match against Delhi at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here.
Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 194/8, the hosts lost their last two wickets after adding 11 runs and failed to avoid the follow-on on the penultimate day.
However, they did well this time around as openers Tanmay Agarwal and Akshath added 98 runs before the former fell for 42. Akshath continued his fine knock and scored 107 off 235 balls as he struck 13 fours and a six to help the hosts to 233 for 2 — a lead of 23 — at stumps with K. Rohit Rayudu (61 n.o) and B. Sandeep (8 n.o) at the crease.
