SATS chief wants smart tracks at universities

The proposal for having synthetic tracks in all the 13 Universities in the state is will cost about Rs 10 crore for each synthetic track.

Hyderabad: All the 13 universities should accommodate synthetic athletic tracks for the betterment of skills, talent and fitness of the athletes, chairman of the Sports Authority of Telangana State, A. Venkateshwar Reddy said at a press conference held here on Thursday.

Impressed by the Synthetic Athletic Track used at the 57th Senior National Athletic Championship which recently concluded at Acharya Nagarjuna University, in Guntur, the SATS chairman was upbeat about the future of the sport in the state.

Mr Reddy has recently written to all the 13 Universities in the state to come up with the proposals to lay the Synthetic Athletic Tracks in their respective Universities, according to a press release issued by his office.

The proposal for having synthetic tracks in all the 13 Universities in the state is will cost about Rs 10 crore for each synthetic track. That will go a long way for the development and cause of sports and to make Telangana a sports hub,” he felt.
