South Africa, Sri Lanka women look to end on a high

With one win from three matches the two teams have the same points, though South Africa has the advantage of a higher run-rate.

Bengaluru: With nothing at stake both Sri Lanka and South Africa will be looking to end their World Cup campaign on a winning note, when they face each other in an inconsequential women’s Group ‘A’ match of the ICC World Twenty20 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Monday.

With one win from three matches the two teams have the same points, though South Africa has the advantage of a higher run-rate. But none of these matter as they head into the final game of their World Cup campaign. Proteas, whose semi-finals hopes were dashed by table toppers New Zealand after a crushing seven-wicket loss will hope to put their batting woes behind and get back into the groove with opener Trisha Chetty leading the line-up, along with D. van Niekerk.

Meanwhile, the Lankan women, who like their male counterparts have had a dismal outing this World Cup, will look to end on a positive note.
