One-Day Institutional League: Batsmen dominate
Batters continued to rule the 22-yards with their brilliant performances as Sai Teja, Md Mesum Abu and Mirza Azeem Baig emerged top scorers while Sri Hari stole the show in the bowling department in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s One-Day Institutional League championship.
In the match between Central Excise and FCI the former team displayed a poor batting show and managed to reach 181 before being bowled out in the 29th over. Srinath was Central Excise’s sole star batsman who scored a valuable 70 runs.
However, their bowlers failed to defend the total as FCI successfully chased it down in 22 overs even as six of their batsman went back to the dressing room. Srinath K. scored 59. A. Paul and Sumith too made handy contributions and played supporting roles by scoring 36 each.
In the another match, some power packed innings from Sai Teja (84), Kaustubh (71) and Giridhar (60) took OMC’s total to 303 for the loss of eight wickets in 35 overs.
In reply, Md Mesum-led High Court from the front as he slammed 83 but his innings went in vain as his side were bowled out for 194 in 23 overs, courtesy Sri Hari, who notched a five-for to take OMC to a comfortable victory.
The match between GHMC and HMWS&SB too saw some good batting display.
GHMC’s Mirza Azeem was unbeaten throughout the innings and scored a fine knock of 80 runs to take his team’s total to 145 for 8 in 25 overs. Shyam Sundar and Yusuf claimed three wickets each for HMWS&SB.
Later, HMWS&SB’s chase was made an easy affair by Govind who scored 74 and Bharath, who was unbeaten on 56, as the water works side cruised to a six-wicket victory.
