Thakur Tilak Varma slams ton for Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Promising batsman N. Thakur Tilak Varma smashed an unbeaten century as the Hyderabad Under 19 team made 255 for 7 on the first day of their Cooch Behar Trophy four-day league match against Rajasthan in Jaipur on Monday.
Opener Tilak’s 133 that came off 241 balls was the only knock of prominence in the Hyderabad innings. The left-hander slammed 18 boundaries during his authoritative essay.
Captain A. Varun Goud was next best with 37 runs to his credit.
Back home, the Hyderabad Under 16 boys hit back after conceding the first innings lead to Tamil Nadu in their Vijay Merchant Trophy league match at the Gymkhana ground but the three-day game ended in a draw.
Hyderabad managed to reduce the visitors to 110 for 9 on the third day after being bowled out for 215 in reply to TN’s 269, courtesy left-arm spinner B. Adtiya’s 6 for 59.
