League match: Batsmen rule the roost on Day 1
Hyderabad: The batsmen displayed some top class cricket as it was raining centuries on Day One of the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Three-Day league matches being played in city on Tuesday.
On the day were nine centuries were scored, M. A. Khader and Ashish Srivastav stood ahead of the pack to shine with the ball for their respective sides.
In the group ‘A’ match against Dayanand CC, batting first, Income Tax made a solid start riding on to fine centuries from B. Sandeep (110 — 128b, 18x4, 1x6) and Shadaab Tumbi (124 batting — 134b, 4x14, 6x6) while M.S.R Charan (64) and Rajasekhar (64) played supporting roles as Income Tax finished the day’s play at 465 for 8 in 88 overs.
Meanwhile in a group ‘B’ match, Ashish picked an economical 5 for 10 but couldn’t stop Sufiyan Alma from scoring a brilliant 172-ball 149 which propelled AOC to 379 for 7 in 86 overs against EMCC. At Stumps EMCC were 12 for no loss.
In other matches, Kapil Dhaka (103) of SCRSA, SBI’s S. Anoop Pai (124), Vikram Naik (140*) and Chandan Sahani (155*) of Evergreen and M. Abhirath Reddy (121) and E. Koushik Yadav (104*) of the Gemini Friends were the other players to score centuries in today’s matches. Meanwhile, Khader picked 5 for 48 for Andhra Bank to do well with the ball.
Meanwhile. in the Two-Day league matches, Vijay Hanuman’s Harish Thakur claimed a brilliant 5 for 57 to bowl out Apex CC for 227 in his side’s 183-run win while in the other match Visaka CC clinched a narrow two-wicket win over Sai Sathya.
