Morgan picks Anil Kumble, no Sachin Tendulkar in all-time XI
Mumbai: England ODI skipper Eoin Morgan announced his all-time playing eleven recently in a video uploaded by Lord’s Cricket Ground’s official channel on YouTube. He picked former India spinner Anil Kumble, now the head coach of the team, in his side but left Sachin Tendulkar out.
“I had the pleasure of playing with this gentleman (Kumble) at Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL. He will go down as one of the all-time greatest spinners,” said Morgan in the video.
Morgan also chose MS Dhoni as the wicketkeeper/batsman.
“A huge icon in India, somebody who has led India to World Cup victory and overseas wins,” he added.
However, he picked Alastair Cook as the skipper who would open the batting with former Proteas great Jacques Kallis.
There is Ricky Ponting and Brian Lara in the middle-order leading to AB de Villiers and Kumar Sangakkara in number five and six respectively.
Apart from Kumble, the other slots in the bowling department went to Mitchell Johnson, Dale Steyn and James Anderson.
Recently, Brendon McCullum also announced his all-time eleven.
