IPL 2019: Delhi Capitals\' Shikhar Dhawan storms into top 5 all-time run-scorers list
New Delhi: Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t have asked for a better start to his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 when he notched up a composed and calm fifty versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday at the Feroz Shah Kotla here.
Dhawan missed out the milestone in his opening match against Mumbai Indians last week, having been dismissed for 43 runs. After scoring his 33rd fifty, he invaded the top five list of most runs scored in the entire IPL history.
Dhawan, who had a rough patch in 2019, shut his critics up after scoring a quick fire 43 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
Dhawan made his presence felt at his Delhi home stadium, after 10 seasons, whacking the bowlers all around the park to notch up 51 runs off 47 balls. The knock consisted of seven boundaries.
The 33-year-old is now the fifth all-time IPL run-scorer (4152 runs), with Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Robin Uthappa (4121 runs) behind him. CSK’s Suresh Raina tops the chart with an impressive record of 5004 runs, followed by Virat Kohli, (4954 runs), Rohit Sharma (4507 runs), Gautam Gambhir (4217 runs).
