Telangana T20 League: Owners reward blind cricketer
Hyderabad: The 10 team owners of Telangana T20 League have presented a cheque for Rs 10 lakh to the State blind cricketer Mahender Vaishnav who was part of the Indian team that won the fifth Blind Cricket World Cup recently. The cheque was presented to him by State Minister T. Harish Rao, shuttle star P. V. Sindhu and Keshav Rao on the sidelines of the TTL final at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on Sunday night.
Initiated by V. Chamundeswaranath, the team owners came forward to support the player. He is the only player from Telangana to represent the country. The all-rounder, to his credit, is the only player to record a five-wicket haul from the country. He has so far played 45 ODIs and 30 T20 matches. The player of B1 (fully blind) category also took four wickets in an over. Mahender works as a deputy manager in the State Bank of India at Choutuppal branch in Hyderabad.
