Virat Kohli No 1 in Lord’s list of top 20 players of 2016

Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have now made it to the elite list of best players of 2016 selected by Lord's Cricket Ground.

Mumbai: It has been a great year for Indian cricket and their players, after bagging prestigious individual ICC awards, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have now made it to the elite list of best players of 2016 selected by Lord's Cricket Ground.

The announcement was made by Lord’s on their official YouTube channel.

 

India Test skipper leads the list of top 20 players after enjoying an impressive run across all formats in 2016. Virat Kohli amassed 1215 runs in Tests in 2016, including three double hundreds.

English wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow has been placed at the second spot followed by ICC No. 1 Test bowler Ashwin, who picked 72 wickets in Test in 2016 and also scored 612 runs.

The other two Indians to be included in the list are Ajinkya Rahane (13th) and Cheteshwar Pujara (18th).

Sri Lankan spin magician Rangana Herath came in fourth position followed by English pacer Chris Woakes.  Upcoming Proteas talent Kagiso Rabada was 6th ahead of Joe Root, Quinton de Kock, Mitchell Starc and Ben Stokes.

 

Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq came in 11th position, while Australian skipper Steve Smith was 14th.
