Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) today officially announced the schedule for the 2019 World Cup which will be held between May 30 and July 14 in England and Wales .

India will be one of the favourites to win the competition after having won the title Twice. The team first won the trophy in 1983 under Kapil Dev and then won their second title in 2011 under leadership of MS Dhoni, when the tournament was hosted by India. They failed to defend their crown in the 2015 edition, which was held in Australia.

The Virat Kohli-led side will open their campaign against South Africa on June 5 at Southampton. Earlier India were scheduled to open their campaign on June 2, but due to Lodha Committee recommendations which require a 15-day gap between IPL and an international assignment the match is pushed to two matches.
