Mumbai: India pacer Jaydev Unadkat has admitted that the recently-concluded T20 series against Sri Lanka has helped him gain confidence in the international level.

Speaking during the post-match press conference after the third T20 vs Sri Lanka, Unadkat said "This series has helped me gain confidence in the international level. It has really been a turnaround for me. It was just about performing well on the ground ".

Unadkat, who finished with a spell of 2-15 from 4 overs, was declared as the Man of the Match in the third T20 against Sri Lanka on Sunday. He was also adjudged the player of the series.

He stressed on more about the importance of maintaining his fitness.

"It's about how I take myself forward from here and working on my skills. It is really important to work on the fitness aspect, especially if you are playing cricket throughout the year," he stated.

"I think I have matured as a player," he added.

When asked about the Wankhede wicket, he said, "The wicket was a bit difficult early on. There was some more pace tha what we had plyed in Indore and Cuttack. It was all about getting a couple of good overs.

"When you are chasing a low target, the batsmen tend to take it to the last over. But, in the end, there was no panic, and it was a comfortable win," he continued.

He was happy with India's fast bowling department, which currently has the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.

"It's a healthy competition going on in our fast bowling department. It's(fast bowling department) all good for our team. The guys are pushing themselves forward. It just helps us to literally raise our standards. India's bowling has been terrific in the last two years, " he concluded.

India defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets in the third T20 here on Sunday, as they completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the shortest format of the game. Sri Lanka has had a forgettable tour to India, having lost the series of all the three formats.
