Coach N Arjun Yadav quits amidst HCA mess

With rival factions in HCA's governing Apex Council naming different sides and support staff, cricket in Hyderabad has taken a hit.

Hyderabad: Fed up with infighting in the Hyderabad Cricket Association and the resultant mess, former player and senior team coach N. Arjun Yadav has decided to give the season a miss.

With rival factions in HCA’s governing Apex Council naming different sides and support staff, cricket in Hyderabad has taken a hit. The 36-year-old has already sent a mail the HCA secretary and the men’s players’ representative on the Apex Council expressing his thoughts.

“I have decided to take a season off and not coach the Hyderabad team even if I am named by either of the factions. I don’t want to take any sides because the game is suffering and I feel disappointed,” Arjun said.

“Both groups are claiming they are right and players the ones caught in the crossfire. They are confused what to do, which practice camp (commissioned by rival groups) to report to. Ditto with the support staff, who are supposed to deliver on the field,” he added.

Arjun wished the warring groups buried their differences and got together in the interest of the game. “I want to send a message that we are for cricket, not groupism. Before a big season like this, it’s very important to have a clear mindset and do what is right for Hyderabad cricket. I have nothing personal against anyone but strongly feel that the players should not suffer,” he said.
