Mumbai: Besides run-scoring India’s favourite cricketer Virat Kohli has a hidden talent of dancing as well. The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper was seen shaking a leg at many parties with his IPL and Team India colleagues Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh and Mandeep Singh, videos of which went viral.
Now Kohli has gone a step ahead. India Test skipper has used his experience to dance and rap with music maestro AR Rahman.
In a special teaser, Kohli sang and danced for the official anthem of Premier Futsal, ‘Naam hai Futsal’ with Rahman, who composed the song. The video has already gone viral.
Eight franchises (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa, Kochi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru) will battle it out for the coveted trophy from July 15 to 24 in the inaugural season of the league.
Futsal, a sport which is a shorter and quicker version of football, is very popular in Europe and South America. The five-a-side matches are usually played indoors.
The league which boasts of Kohli as its brand ambassador and football legend Luis Figo as its president, ran into problems with the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Indian football’s governing body said the league is not an official one and doesn’t have the required rights from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Controversy aside, the league is attracting many veteran star players. The biggest signing was recently of Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, who inked a deal to play to play for the next three editions of Premier Futsal.
Futsal is a fascinating format that has played a pivotal role in developing the skills of some of the greatest football players. I have seen Futsal grow not just back home, but also across the world and I have played in a few of those tournaments," said the former midfielder, who won 11 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies during his stint at Old Trafford.
The league will also see star players such as Alessandro Rosa Vieira, fondly known as Falcao, and 19 other international futsal players including Brazilian born Portuguese football star Deco.
