A stellar Kohli'ng card

Now that RCB has made it to the play-offs, local fans express optimism about the team performing well.

Royal Challengers Bangalore fans are probably witnessing the best season so far, from being Kohlified to breaking all records. Their performance has been the talking point for everyone in the city who has been keenly following their favourite sport-cricket. Yes, we’ve made it to the Indian Premier League (IPL) play-offs, but are we going to break the jinx this year and bring the cup home is a question that’s looming large. We find out what the avid cricket fans feel in the city.

While RCB players are giving their best, it’s a question of reaching the finals and lifting the cup now. From being stuck at the sixth position in the points table to emerging second, they’ve showed that nothing is impossible. Their stellar performance in the last few matches, but the matches on May 27 and then the finals on 29 in Bengaluru is what all the fans are waiting eagerly to watch with bated breath. Manoj Nambiar who works with HGS Ltd. and is an avid sports enthusiast states, “RCB has been jinxed at playoffs, but this might be a thing of the past. Life does have its ups and downs. You have got to have the troughs and peaks. Being in the right place at the right moment is another popular line we have heard a lot and this is true to the fact with the RCB this year- full of energy, talent, focus and determination to make it big! The spirits of the team are high and with a leader like Virat, a tomahawk like Gayle, a jack of all trades like ABD, fire in the belly like Rahul and the rest of the gang are all in the right place to make it happen. While optimism is good, strategy needs to balance the scales too.”

RJ Rakesh Kumar, official entertainer for many sporting events is excited at the way the RCB players are progressing as we draw closer to the finals. “RCB is scripting a story that will be told for many years to come. There’s a rare up-surge that I find in the team this time. Is it the frustration of serial failures? Is it the restlessness of never having a good bowling side? Or is it the anguish against the odds that never favoured them. Call it what you want but this time they are hell bent on beating everything down. And the new Gods (read, Virat and Gayle) are here doing the impossible.” “Enjoy the game,” believes Mohan Bunga of Mohan’s Networking Institute who hasn’t missed a single IPL match so far. He states, “RCB in the top of Fair Play table shows it’s different this time. Their performance is unparalleled and the way it’s going, it definitely looks like we’re going to emerge winners.”
