Indian fans to keep a close eye on Aus-Pak game

If Pakistan lose, they will be knocked out of the tournament.

Mohali: Steve Smith-led Australia takes on Pakistan in a must-win encounter against Pakistan in ICC World Twenty20 in Mohali on Friday.

Although the Shahid Afridi-led unit is facing a lot of flak backhome following its back-to-back defeat at the hand of arch-rivals Pakistan and New Zealand, it will remain in contention to seal the place in the semifinal if it beats Australia.

However, a loss would end their chances to make it to the semis.

The Kangaroo side, who started the tournament with a loss against New Zealand, will hope to beat Pakistan and then defeat hosts and pre-tournament favourites India to secure a semifinal berth.

No matter which side wins today, it would be difficult to predict the second semifinalist from Group 2.

India, who held their nerve to beat Bangladesh and kept themselves in race for semifinal slot, are currently number two ranked side in team standings in Group 2.
