All is unanimous in Andhra body

September 17 to 19 were fixed as dates for filing nominations for the six posts — five office bearers and one councillor.

Hyderabad: Aspirants for posts in the Andhra Cricket Association elected themselves on Monday as the honourable men did not encounter any opposition. Only six persons filed nominations for the six available posts and all were found to be valid. No contest.

Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal (IAS retired), a former chief electoral officer of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana declared six members — P. Sarath Chandra Reddy (president), VVSSKK Yachendra (vice-president), V. Durga Prasad (secretary), K. S. Ramachandra Rao (joint secretary), S. Gopinatha Reddy (treasurer) and R. Dhanunjaya Reddy (councillor) — elected.

Besides the above six, the Apex Council of ACA will consist of two former Andhra first class players (one male and one female) to be nominated by the BCCI and one officer from the Auditor General’s office to be nominated by the Auditor General of Andhra Pradesh.

The Apex Council will commence functioning from September 27.

The election notification was issued on September 13 and the list of eligible voters’ list released on September 16 with 12 District Cricket Associations (Kurnool was not eligible as it is under Adhoc Committee of ACA), 15 clubs and two former international cricketers as per approved constitution of the ACA.

September 17 to 19 were fixed as dates for filing nominations for the six posts — five office bearers and one councillor. Only six nominations were filed (one for each post) and during scrutiny on September 20, all were found to be valid. Since no one backed out until 3 pm on Monday, the time set for withdrawal of nominations, all the candidates were declared elected.

The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators had issued compliance certificate to the Andhra Cricket Association on May 1, 2019 stating that it has adopted the Supreme Court approved Bye-laws.
